Who Is the Sacred Heart of Jesus?
The Sacred Heart is not a separate devotion from Jesus himself — it is Jesus, seen through the lens of His love. Jesus revealed this devotion to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 17th-century France, asking that His Heart be honored, consoled, and loved in return. The image of the Sacred Heart — a heart crowned with thorns, pierced, burning with flame — is one of the most recognized images in Catholic homes around the world.
