If you’re looking for the Sts Nereus and Achilleus novena, you’ve come to the right place. This page includes a short biography and the full 9-day novena prayer to these early Roman martyrs.
Who Were Sts Nereus and Achilleus?

St. Nereus and St. Achilleus were Roman soldiers who converted to Christianity during the early days of the Church. Once converted, they refused to participate in acts of violence and left military service, which led to their arrest.
Exiled alongside St. Flavia Domitilla, they remained faithful despite harsh treatment. Eventually, they were martyred for refusing to renounce Christ. Their witness of faith, courage, and nonviolence continues to inspire Christians today. Their feast is celebrated on May 12.
Because of their powerful conversion and steadfast witness, Sts. Nereus and Achilleus are honored as patrons of converts and models for Christian soldiers. They are especially invoked for strength in times of persecution, and their story reminds us to choose faith over fear, even when it costs everything.
