Prayer to Saint Rita for Impossible Causes

Saint Rita of Cascia holding a crucifix and roses, patron saint of impossible causes

Saint Rita of Cascia is known as the patroness of impossible causes — the saint you turn to when every door seems closed. This powerful prayer is for those carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear alone. Bring your most desperate need to her intercession, and pray it with faith and trust in God’s mercy.

Who Is Saint Rita?

Saint Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) was an Augustinian nun from central Italy whose life was marked by extraordinary suffering and equally extraordinary faith. She endured a difficult marriage, the death of her husband and two sons, and years of painful illness. Despite it all, she remained united to the suffering of Christ, even receiving a wound from a thorn of His crown. The Church beatified her in 1628 and canonized her in 1900. She is invoked especially for causes that seem humanly impossible.

Powerful Prayer to Saint Rita for Impossible Causes

O glorious Saint Rita, patroness of those in need and advocate for the hopeless, I come before you with a heart full of trust and a burden I can no longer carry alone.

You know what it means to suffer without consolation, to pray without seeing an answer, to hold on to God when everything around you speaks of despair. You walked that road, and you are now in the glory of heaven, close to the Heart of God.

I place before you my impossible cause: (mention your intention here).

I do not know how this can be resolved. I do not see a way. But I believe that with God, nothing is truly impossible — and I believe you intercede powerfully for those who ask with faith.

Saint Rita, bring this need before the throne of mercy. Obtain for me the grace I need — or, if it is not God’s will, the strength and peace to accept what I cannot change.

I trust in your powerful intercession.

Amen.
