Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18–25)

A Catholic Prayer for Unity, Peace, and Healing

(January 18–25)

During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18–25), we come before God with humble hearts, asking Him to heal divisions and draw all Christians closer to one another — and closer to Him.

In a world marked by separation, misunderstanding, and conflict, this week invites us to return to the prayer of Jesus Himself:
“That they may all be one.” (John 17:21)

This prayer is offered in a spirit of trust, surrender, and hope, asking God to work gently within our hearts.

🙏 A Prayer for Christian Unity

Lord Jesus Christ,
You prayed that all who believe in You
might be one,
as You are one with the Father.

Today, we bring before You
the divisions that exist among Christians.
Where there is misunderstanding,
bring clarity.
Where there is hurt,
bring healing.
Where there is pride,
bring humility.

Teach us to recognize one another
not as strangers,
but as brothers and sisters
called by the same Lord.

Remove from our hearts
every spirit of judgment, fear, and division.
Fill us instead with charity, patience, and mercy.

May Your Holy Spirit guide us
toward unity rooted in truth and love,
so that the world may believe
in Your saving grace.

We place this prayer in Your hands, Lord,
trusting that You are always at work,
even when unity seems distant.

Amen.

🕊️ When to Pray This Prayer

You may pray this prayer:

  • during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18–25)
  • in moments of personal reflection
  • before or after the Rosary
  • when feeling discouraged by division or conflict

You may repeat it daily, allowing God to work quietly within your heart.

📖 Scripture for Christian Unity

As we pray for unity, we turn to the Word of God,
which continually calls us to live as one in Christ.

John 17:21
“That they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you.”

Ephesians 4:3–4
“Strive to preserve the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace: one body and one Spirit.”

1 Corinthians 12:12
“As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body are one, so also Christ.”

As we read these words, we ask the Lord to let them sink deeply into our hearts, shaping the way we see and love one another.

✝️ The Conversion of Saint Paul (January 25)

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity concludes on January 25, the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul.

Saint Paul’s dramatic conversion reminds us that unity begins with a change of heart.
God can transform even the most divided paths,
and His grace has the power to reconcile what seems impossible.

As we pray during this week, we ask for the same transforming grace —
that God may soften our hearts and draw all Christians closer to Himself.

🌿 A Reflection for Today

True unity is not built through arguments or explanations,
but through humility, patience, and love.

When we pray for unity,
God first invites us to change —
to listen more, judge less,
and choose charity even when it is difficult.

Unity grows wherever hearts are open
and love is placed before pride.

🌱 Placing Our Divisions in God’s Hands

Take a quiet moment now and place before God
the divisions you carry in your heart.

You may think of:

  • Christians you struggle to understand
  • relationships marked by disagreement
  • wounds caused by words or actions

Offer them gently to the Lord, trusting that He alone can heal what feels broken.
Even when unity seems far away, God is already at work.
